Mortuary Reads

Mortuary Confidential, Undertakers Spill the dirt!
I have had the pleasure of reading this book and boy some of the stories are actually really hilarious! I am soon to be going back to school for Mortuary Science. One day I was going through Pinterest and thought why don’t I search Mortuary Science and see what pops up. One of the first things that showed up was this book. I quickly ordered it and patiently waited for it to come in through the mail. Ok, maybe I wasn’t that patient. But I was eager to read what other morticians and funeral directors stories were. The book is only 234 pages long, not that long of a book but its definitely worth the purchase. It’s hilarious with a slightly morbid view. Some stories are really heart felt and touches the bottom of your heart but for the majority of the stories are actually really funny. Check it out, I promise you won’t be disappointed. : )

MorningStar Farms Issues Black Bean Burger Recall

I actually really enjoy these Black Bean Burgers! 😮 Sad to hear they have issued a recall. :/

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – MorningStar Farms is issuing a voluntary and precautionary recall of some of their products because they may inadvertently contain peanuts.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall, but, according to the Food and Drug Administration, MorningStar Farms was notified by a third party supplier that one of the spice ingredients used in Spicy Black Bean Burgers and Chipotle Black Bean Burgers may inadvertently contain peanut. The allergen is not declared on the products’ ingredient statements.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if the products are consumed.

The products were distributed nationwide in the U.S. at both retail stores and through foodservice channels.

{Energy Worth Spreading} Daily Mantras For The Anxious Heart

Energy We Bring

Unfortunately, most people suffer from the occasional bout of anxiety. No one is completely free from worry and fear. Besides, life seems to be moving faster than ever, and our world has some seriously scary $*@! sometimes. A certain level of anxiety is to be expected!

We are no exception. We have had many sleepless nights, asking ourselves questions such as; “Am I on the right path?” “Am I prepared for my presentation in the morning?” “Have I been a good partner/friend this week?” “Is that a freckle or a tumor?” The list goes on and on…

So, how do we cope during anxious times? Aside from excellent self care (proper nutrition, adequate sleep, daily exercise, minimal alcohol and caffeine), we find inspirational mantras to be extremely helpful.

What exactly is a mantra? Essentially, it’s a word or phrase repeated over and over again during meditation. The beautiful thing about reciting mantras, is that…

11 Morgue Workers Reveal The Delightfully Weird And Terrible Sh*t They’ve Seen On The Job

1. I’ve dissected quite a few cadavers in my university’s lab. I’ve TA’d the class, and given tours/presentations to prospective students. I think one of the most surprising things to most people is the variation in bodies. You open Grey’s Anatomy and dozens of other textbooks about anatomy, it shows you the most typical body, and it may list some variations. Those variations are what can make it all interesting. I am not talking variation, like some people having the palmaris longus muscle, and others not. That’s generally pretty well known if you study human biology. Where it gets interesting is the extra muscles that are defined as no more than “anomalous” when you find them. You can look at dozens of books and tons of websites and might not find it documented anywhere.

I’ve found extra forearm muscles and extra lower leg/foot muscles…

The Importance Of Intensity When Weight Training.

dawesfit

Firstly, lets just say this isn’t reinventing the wheel. Intensity has always been a tool utilised by those willing to push themselves out of their comfort zone. Intensity itself can be varied many ways, less rest, more weight, more sets, more reps, slower tempo and so on. However, all these methods produce very different results and its sometimes easy to get lost in the information circulating gym floors and internet forums.

I’ll assume that most men who use the age-old 4 sets of 12 routine want to achieve muscular hypertrophy. However, what’s more important than the number of reps is the way they are completed. Sure, you can choose a moderate weight, force 12 reps out then rest for a minute and go again, but what is this actually achieving? The primary focus should be on tension in the desired muscles. When one trains with the idea of intensity in…
